At the Growing Community, we are growing food and futures. We are inspired by a vision of supporting healthy development of young people while invigorating the local food system with inputs from youth who are composting soil, raising crop, making products and supporting Farmers' market.Growing up is a challenge in itself. When families have to worry whether there will be enough food to fuel growing bodies, the challenges are even harder. Having to worry about food takes a toll on children and families. Our work aims to erase and give young people more of what they need to become healthy and thriving young adults.
Our mission is to feed low income youth while teaching them how to grow food, learn bussiness skills, make money, and become more self-reliant. We want to inspire people to volunteer. To provide education about the food system and invite people to the educational events. We also want to inform parents about our activities, we want to attract youth and attract donors.
Everyone acts like the world is easy to beat
like no-one can see the dealers on the street
people breakin into houses finding a gun underneath the bed
three months later your homie winds up dead
you find out three days later and cry
the same afternoon you find out why
your homie joined a gang to look so cool
no wonder he never showed up to school
he's too busy selling some pills
to realize that Klonopin kills
seven months later your girlfriend get raped
tied and duct taped
she doesn't talk anymore
he got convicted for 25 years
on your girlfriend's cheeks down came tears
you looked life over and gave it another try
and make things the best you could until your time in the sky
